The late Mary Marvin Patterson, widow of Jefferson Patterson II, formally established the Patterson Memorial Center (PMC) in 1995. Her desire was to formalize an organization that would support her late husband’s legacy in donating the Patterson Homestead to the City of Dayton in 1953. Today, Dayton History owns and operates the Patterson Homestead, which is open to the public.
The mission of the Patterson Memorial Center is to share stories of the legacy, challenges, and achievements of the Patterson family and other pioneers who contributed to the growth of Dayton, Montgomery County, and the Miami Valley. The Patterson Memorial Center and Homestead will encourage and inspire both vision and ingenuity by educating visitors of their creativity, determination, and innovation.
